Walmart expands worker abortion protection advantages

Walmart Increases Abortion-Related Health Care Protection
Walmart informed its employees on Friday that it is expanding its benefits for health care that include abortion protection. Chief People Officer Donna Morris sent a note to employees in the United States informing them that abortions will now be covered by the company’s self-insured health care plans “where there is a health danger to the mom, rape or incest, ectopic being pregnant, miscarriage, or lack of foetal viability.” Morris further stated that the increased protection will take effect immediately.

Furthermore, in cases when abortion providers do not appear to be within 100 miles of the plan’s insured premises, the plan will even provide “journey help” to employees and dependents covered under the same plan to access abortion providers.

Several major companies, like Amazon, Facebook parent company Meta Platforms, and Disney, have previously stated that they will pay for their employees’ travel expenses connected to abortion.
