Ernst Daniel’s sixth grandchild is named Zonne. Since 2017, the opera singer has struggled with Parkinson’s disease, an inoperable condition that causes particular brain cells to gradually die. In 2019, Smith disclosed that he has the condition. He had brain surgery in July of last year in an attempt to restore his motor skills, which had declined as a result of the illness. That was a risky procedure, but it was successful, his partner told The Telegraph at the time.
