Over $10 million was awarded to Depp for defamation. Fit
Heard wrote an opinion piece about her experiences with domestic abuse, which led to Depp suing her. The actor claims that even though she did not identify him by name in the Washington Post article, it was clear that it was about him. He claimed that as a result, his reputation and career had suffered, and he sought damages. He was given an award of more than $10 million by the panel.
The lawyers for Heard claimed that there was fraud as one of the jurors’ summons cards didn’t have the correct start date. Still, given the decision, this drawback should have been rectified sooner. Furthermore, there is no indication in the court docket that this was a deliberate fraud case. Heard may, however, appeal this decision. It is likely that her solicitors will follow suit.
