The pilots’ union announced that in the coming weeks, it will begin informative picketing at the airline’s major hubs to protest their work schedules, exhaustion, and lack of adequate lodging during the summer season.
The Allied Pilots Association said in an emailed statement to Reuters that it will protest at Miami International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and other locations.

The union noted, “Our airline seeks scheduling procedures that support the protection margin, respect pilots’ and customers’ needs, and de-risk American Airways to safeguard and enhance income.”

Outside of normal business hours, American did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In August, a union representing Southwest Airways pilots filed a lawsuit challenging the airline’s forced day off and other changes to working conditions enforced during the COVID-19 outbreak.
