Max Verstappen Has A “Superb Start” on the First Testing Day
On his first day of testing in the RB18, Max Verstappen recorded a minimum of 147 laps, calling the experience a “superb start”.
Verstappen remarked, “I think the RB18 looks good, and the car is totally different.” “But we want to see that because it’s all about speed. Today was all about putting in a lot of laps, acclimating to the vehicle, and learning how it handles. Today went really well, so that was a terrific start. Tonight, while [teammate Sergio] Checo is in the car tomorrow, we’ll see what we can already learn and use.
With a morning time of 1-22.246, Verstappen recorded the ninth quickest time of the day, much behind than Lando Norris’s McLaren top time of 1-19.568. Verstappen observed that logging a lot of miles is more crucial than the actual time spent:
